Idamae Beaty

Idamae Beaty, age 83, of Pinckneyville, died Sunday, January 25, 2004 at 9:45 p.m. in the Pinckneyville Community Hospital.
Idamae was born in Perry County on October 5, 1920, the daughter of Fred and Rosa (Witter) Ahlers.  She married Clarence Beaty on February 15, 1957 at St. Paul United Church of Christ, Pinckneyville, and he survives.
Idamae worked as a cook, cab driver and as a presser for 35 years for the Pinckneyville Garment Factory.  She was a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ and I.L.G.W.U.  As a child, Idamae loved working on the farm with her Dad and driving the team.  She loved mowing grass, camping, gardening, cooking, playing dominoes and cards.
Idamae is survived by her husband, Clarence of Pinckneyville; one son, Donald G. Kellerman and wife Carol of Mulkeytown; one daughter, Rosalie Smith of Killeen, Texas; a step-son, James H. Beaty and wife Doris of Pinckneyville; a step-daughter, Patricia Mullins and husband Tom of Coal Grove, Ohio; 16 grandchildren, Kent Dale Kellerman of Diamond Springs, California, Kim Ratajczyk of Sesser, Brett Smith of Killeen, Texas, Lori Avery of Marion, Dwayne Beaty and wife Lesa of Dallas, Georgia, James W. Beaty and wife Tori of Du Quoin, DeAnn Sowder and husband Marshall of Pinckneyville, Travis Beaty of Pinckneyville, Donald Porter and wife Marla of  Raymond, Washington, Randy Porter of Virginia, James, William and David Blackwell of Granite City, Donna DuBray and husband Donald of Jonesburg, Missouri, Cyndi Briggs of Granite City and Jarrett Mullins of Ohio; 20 great-grandchildren, Megan Smith, Ryan Marlo, T.J. and Jennifer Ratajczyk, Lorean Barthel, Desiree, Anthony and Ashley Beaty, Marshall, Wesley and Robert Sowder, Eric Porter, Dacia Blackwell, Donald, Chris, Brandi and Austin LA Dubray and Bryan Clark and three great-great-grandchildren.  Idamae was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, infant, Paul and Johnny Ahlers; grandson, Kevin Smith; two great-grandsons, Lonnie and Devon Clark and two sons-in-law, Levi Smith and LA Blackwell.
Funeral services were held on Thursday, January 29 at the Pyatt-Harrawood Funeral Home in Pinckneyville at 11 a.m. with Bro. Rob Mathis officiating.  Interment was in the Galum Presbyterian Cemetery, Pinckneyville.
Friends called at the Pyatt-Harrawood Funeral Home in Pinckneyville Wednesday evening from 6 until 9 p.m. and again on Thursday morning from 8 a.m. until time of services.
